The 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme is anticipated to be released in February 2025, providing much-needed financial support to eligible farming families across India. This installment will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of registered beneficiaries under the scheme, ensuring timely assistance. 

Beneficiaries can check their PM KISAN 19th installment payment status through the official PM Kisan portal pmkisan.gov.in by navigating to the ‘Farmers Corner’ section, entering their registration details, and completing OTP verification.

To ensure uninterrupted benefits, farmers must complete their eKYC and keep Aadhaar-linked bank accounts updated. 

The 18th installment, which preceded this, was successfully disbursed on October 5, 2024, benefiting millions of farmers nationwide.

Mandatory Farmer ID for PM KISAN Benefits

To ensure transparency and improve the efficiency of benefit distribution under the PM Kisan scheme and other agriculture-related subsidies, the government has introduced a mandatory Farmer ID. Initially, this requirement has been implemented in the following 10 states:

Farmers in these states are required to register themselves through the Farmer Registry system to obtain their unique Farmer ID. This registration is crucial for continuing to receive financial assistance and other agricultural benefits.

1. Eligibility

  •  Initially, the scheme was for Small & Marginal Farmers (SMF) with landholding up to 2 hectares.
  • 📋 From 1st June 2019, the scheme was revised to include all farmer families irrespective of landholding size.

2. Benefits

  • 💰 All landholding farmers’ families receive Rs.6000 per annum.
  • 💰 The financial benefit is paid in three equal installments of Rs.2000 each, every four months.

3. Exclusion/Ineligibility Criteria

  • 🚫 Not eligible: Institutional landholders and families of constitutional post holders, ministers, senior officials, and professionals.
  • 🔍 Specific criteria exclude farmers who pay income tax or own non-cultivable micro land holdings.

4. Payment Mechanism

  • 🏦 The financial benefit is directly credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
  • 🏦 Beneficiaries must provide bank details and Aadhaar numbers for direct credit.

5. Identification

  • 🆔 Beneficiary lists displayed at Panchayats and notified via SMS.
  • 🆔 Farmers Corner in the PM-Kisan portal allows farmers to check their status and register complaints.

6. Additional Provisions

  • 🔄 In case of death, benefits are transferable to families.
  • 📅 The cut-off date for eligibility is 01.02.2019.
  • 🔄 Aadhaar seeding of beneficiaries’ data was made mandatory from 01.04.2019 for installment release.

About PM KISAN?

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central government scheme launched on December 1, 2018. This visionary program aims to provide income support to all landholding farmers’ families across the country who own cultivable land.

Key Features of PM KISAN

Key features of PM KISAN Yojana are:

  • Financial Support: Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmers receive Rs. 6,000 per year as income support.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer: The amount is transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries.
  • Quarterly Installments: The annual sum is disbursed in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each.
  • Wide Coverage: The scheme aims to cover all landholding farmers’ families in India.

Who is Eligible for PM KISAN Yojana?

PM-KISAN defines an eligible farmers’ family as: “A family comprising of husband, wife, and minor children who own cultivable land as per land records of the concerned State/UT.”

Who is not included under PM KISAN Yojana?

To ensure that the benefits reach those who need it most, the following categories are excluded from the scheme:

  1. Institutional Land holders
  2. Families with members in specific categories:
    • Former and present holders of constitutional posts
    • Former and present Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Mayors, Chairpersons of District Panchayats
    • Serving or retired government officers and employees (excluding Multi-Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees)
    • Pensioners receiving monthly pension of Rs. 10,000 or more
    • Income tax payers
    • Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects

Special Provisions for Northeastern States

PM-KISAN recognizes the unique land ownership patterns in some Northeastern states and has made special provisions:

  • Manipur: Certificates issued by Village authorities for tribal families cultivating land are accepted.
  • Nagaland:
  • a) For community-owned cultivable land: Certificates issued by village councils, verified by administrative heads, and countersigned by Deputy Commissioners are accepted.
  • b) For Jhum land: Certification by village councils, verified by administrative heads, and countersigned by Deputy Commissioners is accepted, provided the beneficiary is listed in the 2015-16 Agriculture Census.
  • Forest Dwelling Tribes: Tribal Holding ‘Pattas’ under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 are eligible.
  • Jharkhand: Due to outdated land records, a Vanshawali/lineage document linked to land records, approved by Gram Sabha and authenticated by revenue officials, is accepted.

How to Check Your PM-KISAN Beneficiary Status?

Farmers can easily check their PM-KISAN beneficiary status on the official website. For this, follow the steps provided below:

  • Open your web browser and navigate to the official PM-KISAN website:(www.pmkisan.gov.in) 
  • On the main page of the website, look for and click on the “Know Your Status” option.

  • On the status check page, enter your PM KISAN registration number and the captcha code displayed on the screen
  • After that, click on the “GET OTP” button.

  • An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your eKYC Registered Mobile Number. 
  • Once you receive the OTP on your registered mobile number, enter it in the designated area on the website.
  • Then, click on the “Know Status” option. This will submit your request.
  • The current status of your PM KISAN benefits will now display on your screen. 

How to Check PM KISAN Beneficiary List Online?

To check the list of beneficiaries of any state’s village, follow the steps provided below:

  • Visit the official PM KISAN website pmkisan.gov.in.
  • On the main page, click on Beneficiary List option.

  • Then click on Get Report option.
  • The beneficiary list will then open on your screen mentioning Farmer’s Name and their Gender.

How to Check PM KISAN Beneficiary List through PFMS Portal?

Farmers can now check their beneficiary list through the government’s PFMS portal as well. For this, follow the steps provided below:

  • First, visit the PFMS official portal pfms.nic.in. (This is the Public Financial Management System portal used by the government for various scheme payments.)
  • On the mainpage, locate and click on the “Payment Status” option.
  • A drop-down menu will open. Here, choose “DBT Status Tracker“.

  • Now provide all the information.
  • For this, click on the “Category” section, and select “PM-KISAN” from the dropdown menu.
  • Under “DBT Status”, choose the “Payment” option.
  • Now, enter either your Application ID or Beneficiary Code in the designated area.
  • Type in the captcha code.
  • After entering all details, click on the “Search” button.

  • Scroll down to see your beneficiary list payment status.

How to Register for PM-KISAN?

Farmers can register for PM-KISAN through multiple channels:

Self-Registration:

  • a) Through the Farmer’s Corner on the PM-KISAN website
  • b) Via Common Service Centers (CSCs)
  • c) Using the PM-KISAN Mobile App

State Government Registration:

  • a) Direct entry by state officials
  • b) Bulk upload of farmer data by state governments

PM KISAN Registration Process

To register for the PM KISAN yojana benefits, you have to register on PM KISAN official website by yourself. You can also visit the Common Service Centres (CSCs), or use PM KISAN mobile app.  To register, follow the steps provided below.

Self-Registration on PM KISAN Portal

Individual farmers can register on PM KISAN by following the steps provided below:

Step 1: Open the Official PM-KISAN Website

  • Open your internet browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.) on your computer or smartphone.
  • In the search bar, type pmkisan.gov.in and press Enter.
  • Wait for the website to load completely.

Step 2: Go to Farmer Registration

  • Once the homepage appears, scroll down slightly to find the Farmers Corner section.
  • In the Farmers Corner, locate and click on the New Farmer Registration option.

Step 3: Select Your Location

  • On the new page, you will be asked to choose whether you live in a Rural (village) or Urban (city) area.
    • Select the appropriate option by clicking on it.

Step 4: Enter Your Aadhaar Details

  • In the Aadhaar Number field, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar card number.
    • Ensure there are no typos, as incorrect details may lead to rejection.
  • Enter your Mobile Number in the next field.
    • Make sure the mobile number is active and accessible, as you will receive an OTP for verification.
  • Select your State from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter the Captcha Code as displayed on the screen.
  • Click on the Get OTP button.

Step 5: Verify OTP

  • A one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the mobile number you provided.
  • Enter the OTP in the designated field.
  • Then, click on Verify Aadhaar OTP.

Step 6: PM KISAN Application Form

After OTP verification, you will see the Farmer Registration Application Form. Here’s how to fill it:

1. Personal Details

  • State: This field will already be filled based on your earlier selection.
  • District: Select your district from the dropdown menu.
  • Sub-District/Tehsil: Choose your tehsil or sub-district.
  • Block: Select your block.
  • Village: Choose the name of your village from the dropdown menu.

2. Caste Category

  • Select your caste category:
    • SC (Scheduled Caste)
    • ST (Scheduled Tribe)
    • OBC (Other Backward Class)
    • General
    • Click on the relevant option that applies to you.

3. Farmer Type

  • Choose your farmer type based on the size of your landholding:
    • Small (1-2h)
    • Others

Step 7: Land Details

  • In the Land Registration ID field:
    • Obtain your Land Registration ID (also called Khasra or Gata Number) by visiting your state’s Bhulekh portal.
    • Enter the number exactly as it appears on your land record documents.
  • If you don’t have the ID, search your land details on the Bhulekh website by entering your district, tehsil, and village details, or your landowner name.
    • Copy the 16-digit ID and paste it in this field.
  • Ration Card Number: If you have a ration card, enter its number

  • Select whether you own the land individually (“Single”) or jointly with others (“Joint”).
  • Click on “Add” to enter your land details.
  • Provide the Khasra Number.
  • Enter the area of your land in hectares.
  • Select whether you owned this land before or after February 1, 2019.
  • Choose how you acquired the land (e.g., inheritance, purchase, gift).
  • Enter the date from which you’ve owned this land.

Step 8: Upload Supporting Documents

  • Gather the required documents:
    • Copy of your land records.
    • Aadhaar card (scanned copy).
    • Bank passbook (for the account where the benefit will be transferred).
  • Ensure the documents are in PDF or JPEG format and under 200KB in size.
  • To reduce file size if needed:
    • Open a new tab, search for “compress PDF online,” and upload the document to resize it.
  • Click on Choose File, locate your document, and upload it to the portal.

Step 9: Submit the Form

  • Review all the information you’ve entered for accuracy.
    • Check for typos or incomplete details.
  • Click on the Submit button to finalize your application.

Step 10: Save Your Farmer ID

  • After submission, the system will generate a Farmer ID for you.
  • Write down or save this ID safely, as it will be required for future references, such as checking your application status.

Step 11: Application Verification

  • Your application will now be sent to the concerned authorities at the district and tehsil levels for verification.
  • The verification process may take a few days to a few weeks.

Step 12: Track Application Status

  • To check your application status:
    • Go to the Farmers Corner section.
    • Click on the Status of Self-Registered Farmer?CSC Farmer option.

 

    • Enter your Aadhaar number and Captcha Code, then click Search.
  • The system will display the current status of your application.

Step 13: Contact Local Authorities If Needed

  • If your application status remains pending for an extended period:
    • Visit your local Block Development Office or Agriculture Office.
    • Request them to approve your application.

PM KISAN Registration Via Common Service Centers (CSCs)

  • Visit your nearest Common Service Center
  • Inform the operator that you want to register for PM-KISAN
  • Provide all necessary documents and information
  • The CSC operator will fill out the online form on your behalf
  • Verify the entered information before final submission
  • Collect the acknowledgment receipt with your registration ID

Registration for PM KISAN Using the PM-KISAN Mobile App

  • Download the PM-KISAN mobile app from Google Play Store
  • Open the app and select “New Farmer Registration”
  • Fill in all required details as prompted by the app
  • Upload necessary documents using your phone’s camera
  • Submit the application
  • Save the registration ID provided for future reference

How to Check PM KISAN e-KYC Status and Complete e-KYC if it’s Pending?

To check the e-KYC status for PM KISAN, follow the steps provided below:

  • Visit the official PM-KISAN website: pmkisan.gov.in
  • On the homepage, look for the “e-KYC” option, available in the Farmers Corner section, and click on it.

  • On the e-KYC page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number
  • Then, click on the “Search” button.
  • An OTP will be then sent to your Aadhaar-registered mobile number. 
  • Enter the OTP and click on Submit.

Your e-KYC status for PM KISAN Samman Yojana will be displayed on your screen.

If the status shows pending, complete the e-KYC process. To do so, follow the below-provided steps:

  • Verify Registered Mobile Number:
    • If your Aadhaar number is registered in the PM-KISAN portal, your records will be fetched automatically.
    • You’ll be asked to enter the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar card.
    • Enter the number and click on “Get Mobile OTP”.
  • Enter First OTP:
    • An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the mobile number you provided.
    • Enter this OTP in the designated field on the website.
    • Click on “Submit”.
  • Request Aadhaar OTP:
    • After submitting the first OTP, you’ll see an option for “Get Aadhaar OTP”.
    • Click on this option.
  • Enter Aadhaar OTP:
    • Another OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar.
    • Enter this OTP, and click on “Submit”.
  • Confirmation:
    • If all steps are completed successfully, a success will display on your screen indicating that your e-KYC is complete.

State Government Registration

Direct entry by state officials:

  • State officials collect farmer information through local administrative channels
  • They log into the PM-KISAN portal using their credentials
  • Navigate to the “Direct Entry” tab
  • Select “New Registration (Rural)” or “New Registration (Urban)” as appropriate
  • Enter the farmer’s details in the provided form
  • Submit the form
  • A temporary registration ID is generated by the system 

Bulk upload of farmer data by state governments:

  • State officials compile farmer data in the prescribed XML format
  • They log into the PM-KISAN portal using their credentials
  • Navigate to the “XML Upload” section
  • Select “Upload Farmer Data”
  • Choose either “Rural” or “Urban” radio button
  • Upload the prepared XML file
  • The system processes the file and registers multiple farmers at once

PM KISAN Monitoring and Grievance Redressal

PM-KISAN has a robust monitoring and grievance redressal mechanism:

The PM-KISAN portal provides real-time data on beneficiaries, fund transfers, and scheme implementation.

States can track the status of registrations, validations, and payments.

Each complaint is assigned a unique ID for tracking.

PM KISAN Validation and Payment Process

To ensure that benefits reach the right beneficiaries, PM-KISAN employs a rigorous validation process:

  1. Aadhaar Authentication:
    • All farmer records undergo Aadhaar authentication.
    • The registered farmer’s name must match their Aadhaar details.
    • Failed authentications are returned to farmers and states for name correction.
  2. First Level Validation:
    • Conducted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
    • Eliminates duplicate, incorrect, or incomplete records.
    • Rejected data is sent back to states/farmers for correction.
  3. PFMS Account Validation:
    • Accepted records from the first level are sent to the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
    • PFMS verifies bank account details, including account number, IFSC code, and account type.
    • Rejected records are returned to states for correction.
  4. State Approval:
    • Validated data is organized into lots for state approval.
    • States can stop payments for ineligible farmers or those with incorrect details.
    • States sign Request for Transfer (RFT) forms for approved farmers.
  5. Fund Transfer Order (FTO) Generation:
    • NIC generates FTOs based on signed RFTs.
    • FTOs are sent to PFMS for final validation.
  6. Fund Disbursement:
    • Approved FTOs are sent to the Farmer’s Welfare Division’s PFMS account.
    • Once sanctioned, funds are transferred to banks as per the FTO.
    • The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) transfers funds to beneficiaries’ accounts.
